Carol has worked for 14 years on the annual Fair Trade Holiday Festival, now grown into the Exhibit Hall at Monona Terrace. Carol joined the City of Madison's Sweatfree Purchasing Committee last year in order to connect fair trade with anti-sweatshop advocacy. The fair trade movement has certifications for coffee and a few other food products, but has never formally addressed the garment industry. Our tax dollars are used by municipalities to purchase millions of dollars of goods annually, and that's a logical place to create demand for responsibly sourced products.
