SlaveFree Madison to Hold Public Education Forum on Child Sex Trafficking

It’s a dirty little secret and it could be in your own backyard. An underage victim of sex trafficking may be your neighbor, a known runaway, go to school with your child or someone you have seen professionally.

The federal government estimates there are as many as 17,500 girls in the U.S. that are victims of human trafficking and sexual slavery. Love146, an organization formed to end child sex slavery and exploitation, says the government’s figures are much too low. They estimate that each year over 100,000 U.S. children are involved in prostitution, pornography or stripping to meet their survival needs on the street.

Once targeted by traffickers, these children are often subjected to intense repeated physical and emotional brutality as well as chemical dependency to force the victim to surrender to the trafficker’s over-powering will.

Please join us that evening to learn more about child sex trafficking and possible responses to address it and please share this program announcement with others you feel might be interested.
